Wisdom Abides
For years I have been searching for different philosophical sources of enlightenment. From east to west, in academia and the streets, traditional to unorthodox. I believe that many philosophies contain a common and central truth. Only by studying and combining these sources of wisdom can we get to the central truths of the world. To this end I was delighted to find that a new book has been compiled that may help give us guidance in these troubling times. It is called The Tao Dude Ching, and you should begin your studies immediately.
Manchester Brewing: The Devil’s Rooster
I just found this brewery 3 weeks ago, but that can be forgiven for a brewery that is less than a year old. Manchester Brewing from Concord, NH seems very promising, their beer tastes great and has a sense of humor.
First up was "The Devils Rooster" is a well balanced märzen that is perfect for a September afternoon. From the name and it's not so subtle double entendre, I was expecting something big and in my face. The märzen style never really gets aggressive though, if it were to push the hop or alcohol boundary it would not really be a märzen. It poured a cloudy amber color with a lacy head. The flavor was a medium to thin bodied tasting of caramel, spices and slightly of chocolate. An easy drinking beer and a pleasant into for me to this brewery.
10 rules to live by
- Just because you said it while drunk/stoned/tripping doesn't make it profound
- If someone is nice to you but rude to others then they are not a nice person
- Unhappiness and hate waste time better spent living
- Never take laxatives and sleeping pills together
- Always lie to cops
- You can never go back to your childhood, so try to never leave it
- Just because you don't like something does not necessarily make it bad
- Don't blame your shortcomings and problems on fate/god/drugs/others. Instead take responsibility for them because they are your problems and no one else can fix them.
- If you don't enjoy or are offended by something don't participate, but also don't stop other people from having a good time.
- Finding out how many licks it takes to get to center of a tootsie pop is pointless and none of your friends will be really impressed.
- There is always room for one more.
